…I usually see a crazy moving picture on one side, which after some research, is the result of a zoetrope, or a device that uses a rapid succession of pictures to create the illusion of movement.

I found an article in the New York Times about this particular one! It’s called “Masstransciscope” and was conceived and created by Bill Brand in the late 70s. It has been neglected and repaired a few times since.
